August 2015 – LORD Mayor of Bradford and real-ale fan Councillor Joanne Dodds had a dream engagement – a visit to our Knowle Spring site last week. Coincidentally it was the 189th anniversary of the birth of founder Timothy Taylor, so a nice way to celebrate.
Peter Eels, Head Brewer, spent time explaining the company history and processes involved to brew Taylor’s multi-award-winning beers.
“It was absolutely fascinating and I felt really lucky and privileged to be given the opportunity to look round,” said Councillor Dodds, who was accompanied by her husband and consort, Robert.
“The brewery is a lot bigger than I expected it to be.
I’ve visited other breweries in years gone by but I’ve always wanted to visit Timothy Taylor’s.
The technology now used in the brewing process is incredible and it was wonderful to see and learn about it first-hand.
Taylor’s is a great example of a successful local business whose influence stretches far beyond this area.”
The visit came about after Cllr Dodds met the Timothy Taylor’s team at the Keighley Business Awards in June.
She had requested beer instead of champagne to toast the winners.
“I don’t drink wine or champagne so the team gave me some Boltmaker – which was lovely!” she said.
Stephanie Bottomley and Paul North, from the Airedale Partnership also accompanied the Lord Mayor on her visit.
