July 2014 – Matthew and Jo Hogg have taken over Timothy Taylor’s Brown Cow in Bingley. They have a wealth of experience in the pub trade and have held key positions in Taylor’s managed pubs. They are well-known in Bingley as they ran The Ferrands Arms for a number of years.
Whilst the Brown Cow is one of the few pubs to have all five Taylor’s beers on the bar, Matthew (Chog) is keen to stress that great food will be available. Chef Chris Metcalfe, who has been at the Ireland Bridge pub for a number of years has introduced an all new menu. You can sit down to classic pub food as well as a selection of pizzas and burgers made with 100% Yorkshire Dales beef. There is also a regularly changing specials board.
Matthew said ‘Everything is freshly prepared in-house and we try to use local produce if we can. There are special value-for-money Senior’s Lunches from Monday to Friday 12 to 2.30pm, and Early Bird offers 5pm to 7pm.
He added that Friday night is Steak Night with a free bottle of house wine when ordering two steaks. The popular Quiz Night is to continue every Tuesday and in the Autumn Chog is keen to introduce a regular live Folk Night.
In welcoming the couple to their new venture Timothy Taylor’s Pub Estate Director Andrew Daykin commented ‘Both Matthew and Jo are highly experienced operators and there is little doubt your visit to the Brown Cow will be well rewarded. All of us at Taylor’s wish them the very best of luck.’
The Brow Cow, which is conveniently situated close to Bingley town centre, is now open throughout the day from 12noon until 11pm with Friday and Saturday opening extended until midnight. Food is available from 12 to 2.30pm & 5pm to 9pm on Monday to Friday; 12 to 9pm Saturday, 12 to 8pm Sunday.
