October 2014 – Tesco has announced it is to stock Timothy Taylor’s Boltmaker, the newly crowned CAMRA Supreme Champion Beer of Britain.
Produced by Timothy Taylor’s for the first time in bottles, Boltmaker 4.2% ABV will be available in over 350 Tesco stores across the country from the end of October.
Commenting on listing Boltmaker Tesco Beer Buyer Chiara Nesbitt said: ‘Following the news that Timothy Taylor’s Boltmaker was awarded the prestigious accolade of ‘Champion Beer of Britain’, Tesco is delighted to have secured exclusive distribution for this fantastic product. Boltmaker is a great ale brewed in West Yorkshire and I know our customers are going to love it.’
Boltmaker is a well balanced Yorkshire bitter with a full measure of maltiness and hoppy aroma.
Previously called Best Bitter, Boltmaker, was re-named in a 2012 competition to commemorate 60 years of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord. Phil Booth, licensee at the brewery’s Boltmakers Arms in Keighley, came up with Boltmaker to celebrate Keighley’s engineering tradition.
Timothy Taylor’s Sales Director Grant Simpson said: ‘We are delighted to be teaming up with Tesco to offer the superb taste of Boltmaker to beer lovers across the country. Before the victory at the Great British Beer Festival it was a hidden gem and our brewers’ favourite beer. Now it is available in bottles in Tesco stores we are sure it will receive the recognition it deserves’
Tesco already stock two Timothy Taylor’s bottled beers – Havercake, an autumn special supporting ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, and Landlord, the beer that has won more awards than any other English ale.
