Beginning in the Winter of 1965-66, the Airedale Quiz League is entering its 57th season in 2023-24. This season, 23 teams over two divisions will compete. In addition to the league competition, a team cup competition, a pairs competition, and an individual event will also take place.
The season runs from late September until mid-May, however new players are welcome at any time. Equally, new teams are admitted at the start of each season.
Timothy Taylor's came on board as a sponsor during 2023, after learning that many of the league’s matches are held in local pubs across the region, including a few within our own estate.
Amongst the Airedale Quiz League’s players are some familiar faces to those that enjoy quizzing.
Barry Simmons, a regular on BBC’s Eggheads; Sarah Greenan, a Mastermind semi-finalist; Ranvir Singh Kalare, another Mastermind semi-finalist; and Diane Hallagan, who was a Mastermind finalist twice, and won £250,000 on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
Andrew Copping, Airedale Quiz League Chairman, said: "It’s wonderful having Timothy Taylor’s on board as a sponsor, supporting the league and making sure we have plenty of their delicious beer to hand out at our Finals Night and Presentation Night.
"If anyone does fancy joining the league (as a team or individually) please don’t be intimidated by our elite bunch of quizzers. The league is for quizzers of all standards, young or old. A great way to make new friends and of course enjoy a few pints together."
Scott Cameron, Senior Brand Manager at Timothy Taylor’s said: "As part of Timothy Taylor's commitment to our local community, we are very proud to be the new partner sponsor of the Airedale Quiz League.
"To be able to support a quiz league that also supports local pubs, including a few of our own, felt like a marriage made in heaven. We look forward to many years of working together."
