Award-winning Yorkshire brewery teams up with historic local races to support world-famous routes with refreshments, prizes, and much more.
The Haworth Hobble started as a long-distance walking event in 1980, but quickly expanded into a fell running event during the marathon running boom of the 1980s. It is a 32-mile traverse of the local moors between Haworth, Burnley, Todmorden, and Hebden Bridge with about 5,500ft of ascent.
It is the 44th Haworth Hobble in March 2025. Many of the UK’s biggest names in fell running have competed over the years, with one runner completing it on 42 successive occasions. Find out more here.
The Yorkshireman Off Road Marathon and Half Marathon is 31 years old this year. The event traverses the local Brontë countryside taking in remote spots around local moors. It sells out every year and there are only a few places remaining for the September 2024 event. Find out more here.
Both events are organised by Keighley & Craven Athletics Club, who welcome all new members, whether you are new to running or an experienced runner.
With Timothy Taylor’s as their new partner sponsor, the races hope to provide participants with beery goodies at the finish line, plus branded merch. The races will also offer competitions to their runners, which will include money-can’t-buy brewery tours, and stays at The Fleece Inn pub in Haworth, who have been supporters of the races for many years.
There are also a few more surprises to be unveiled…
Race organisers Simon Chester, Peter Smith, and Gary Chapman, at The Fleece Inn, Haworth.
Scott Cameron, Senior Brand Manager at Timothy Taylor’s said: “We have a long history of supporting sports groups in our community, from the Craven Cricket League to local football and rugby teams.
"When Gary, Simon, and Peter got in touch about the Haworth Hobble and Yorkshireman, how could we say no. Fantastic races that embody the true uncompromising nature of the Yorkshire spirit, something we are both proud to share.
"We hope that all the competitors are excited about the collaboration, and rest assured The Fleece Inn will be ready and waiting for post-race refreshments."
Gary Chapman, Race Director and Organiser, said: "Our races start outside the famous Fleece Inn, Haworth, and it would be fair to say that a few hard-earned pints of Landlord back at the Fleece are always high on the agenda for many fell runners straight after the race.
"It seemed like the perfect match to team up with Timothy Taylor’s, as we are both proud to represent the very best of our local area to a far wider audience."
Keighley & Craven Athletics Club have training nights every Tuesday and Thursday at University Academy Keighley and if interested, pop along for 6.20pm and introduce yourself so they can find a group that works for you.
The club has one of the most successful junior sections in the UK for kids aged 8 to 18. They compete at local, regional, and national level, with the emphasis at the younger ages very much on fun.
There is a great team spirit at all junior ages. Whilst they sometimes need to operate waiting lists, please visit www.kcac.co.uk for more information.
